Dear Friends of Greentown Labs, After our proud beginning in Bostons Innovation District, made possible through the generous support of the City of Boston, we are moving and expanding in August to a cool, bigger space in Somerville just a few minutes walk from Harvard Square (or faster on a Hubway bike!). We ask for your help. Our organization relies on sponsors, donations, fees and rent to support our companies and the cleantech community and to grow! Our new location will allow us to grow our vibrant community of energy entrepreneurs and continue to serve as a center of gravity for cleantech innovation. Our company founders and their teams will be able to keep operating in affordable, co-located prototyping and office space and well welcome new companies off of our waiting list. Weve Grown Up We began just two years ago by a few energy entrepreneurs who needed a low-cost space to make stuff. Now, were a home for people to visit, convene, connect, share and dream up new ways to address big energy challenges. Today, we accommodate 5,000 visitors annually, hold or host dozens of events that last up to an entire weekend, and manage an ongoing network and initiatives like our regular EnergyBar events. We believe an improved, custom-designed space can do all of this and more. Were Following Innovation And our entrepreneurs. Somerville is emerging as another innovation cluster, home to many entrepreneurs as well. Mayor Curtatone of Somerville strongly supports our move to his City. We fit his vision to build an affordable, accessible innovation economy with a focus on sustainable businesses. Located at 28 Dane Street, well be next door to other entrepreneurs and creative people working, playing and hanging out at Artists Asylum, Brooklyn Boulders, and Cambridge Innovation Center satellite office, all in a neighborhood filled with good food, diversity, culture and entertainment. In our new location, in Somerville, MA, just 3.5 miles from downtown Boston, we offer 33,000 sq. ft. of prototyping lab and co-located office space, a shared machine shop and electronics shop, immersion in a growing community of energy and clean technology entrepreneurs, and on-site events and programs designed to enable start-ups to rapidly grow their networks and their companies.
